๐ Story Snapshot
๐ฉ Age: 36๐ Years trying: 2
๐งฌ Embryo: 5AA, euploid
๐งช Retrievals: 3
๐ฃ Transfers: 1
๐ Diagnosis: Unexplained infertility, High aneuploidy
๐ Outcome: 16 weeks pregnant
My husband and I tried to get pregnant naturally for two years before we sought help and got all the fertility testing done. At 35 and 38 we were diagnosed with unexplained infertility.
We first did three IUIs. All negative. So we decided to move on to IVF.
I had just turned 36 before my first egg retrieval. We got 14 eggs, 8 mature, 6 fertilized. We sent 3 embryos for PGS testing which resulted in 2 abnormal and 1 mosaic. I was devastated.
We took a month off and then jumped in again for round 2. This time we got 18 eggs, 14 mature and 10 fertilized. Everything looked great on day 3 and by day 6 we only had 2 embryos to send for testing. Again, both abnormal.
My doctor encouraged us to try one more time. We switched from antagonist to lupron flare protocol, added HGH and did PICSI instead of ICSI. We got 18 eggs, 13 mature, 11 fertilized and sent 6 for PGS testing which resulted in 2 normal, 3 abnormal and 1 unknown.ย
We did a hysteroscopy to remove some polyps that had developed from the retrieval rounds and then transferred our beautiful 5AA PGS normal embryo. Iโm now 16 weeks pregnant!ย
We almost gave up. Other doctors I consulted with suggested donor eggs. Iโm so glad our doctor encouraged us to try again.ย
