The MEA is a test to evaluate new IVF consumables/equipment for embryo or gamete toxicity. It involves culturing 1-cell or 2-cell mouse embryos with the test article for several days to see if the embryos can grow to blastocyst. If 80% or more of the embryos grow to blastocyst, then the article passes the test.
