We started fertility treatments because we are a same sex couple, but I also have PCOS.ย By the time we started our first IUI I was already 40. After a year of 4 failed IUIs, a canceled cycle,ย a D&C and removal of a polyp, and lots of heartache and expense, we had all but given up.ย By this time I was 41.
But we gave it one more shot.ย
We proceeded to IVF. At retrieval there were 9 retrieved,ย 4 mature, 3 fertilized (ICSI),ย and on day 3 we still had all 3. 2 were 4/8, and 1 3/8. We froze at 3 days and did not PGS. I had a single transfer 2 months later.ย That resulted in my healthy baby boy born 3 weeks before I turned 42 and who is now 2 months old.ย
