UWOF#33: Pregnant from a high-level mosaic embryo after 3 failed euploids

Three euploid embryos failed, and one natural pregnancy ended in miscarriage, but a high level mosaic with a 10% chance from frozen eggs led to a healthy baby boy.

๐Ÿ“Š Story Snapshot ๐Ÿ‘ฉ Age: 36
๐Ÿ“† Years trying: Not stated
๐Ÿงฌ Embryo: High level mosaic (+1)
๐Ÿงช Retrievals: 4
๐Ÿฃ Transfers: 4
๐Ÿ’Š Diagnosis: Low AMH/DOR, Recurrent implantation failure, Endometriosis, Unexplained infertility
๐Ÿ“ˆ Outcome: Healthy baby boy

At 36, I got out of a long-term relationship just as we were about to try for kids. I decided to freeze my eggs and learned I had low AMH and diminished ovarian reserve. I did three rounds of egg retrievals and was able to get 15 frozen eggs, which I was so pleased about.

A few years later, I met the love of my life. At 39, we jumped right into family planning, but my FSH had spiked and cycles were difficult. Out of ten attempts, I managed one retrieval but got only two eggs, leading to an aneuploid embryo.

Thankfully, those frozen eggs gave us another chance. Fourteen thawed well, 13 fertilized, and nine became blastocysts. From those, we had three euploid embryos and two mosaics. We were so hopeful.

We transferred our first euploid โ€” it didnโ€™t stick. The second also failed. Suddenly, only one remained. I did further testing and was diagnosed with silent endometriosis. Just before treatment, I got pregnant naturally, but miscarried at eight weeks.

After two months of depot Lupron therapy, we transferred our final euploid. It failed too. Heartbroken, we began exploring our options including donor eggs. An embryologist encouraged us to consider our mosaics โ€” one with a 10% chance, the other 25%.

We decided to transfer both at the same time. It was my first time doing a natural cycle. To our shock, one implanted and stuck. It was the embryo with the slimmest odds: +1 HLM. The amniocentesis came back perfect, and today he is here โ€” our beautiful, healthy baby boy, bringing joy to everyone!
