Human sperm motility assay (HMSA)

The HMSA is a test to evaluate new IVF consumables/equipment for embryo or gamete toxicity. It involves exposing a sperm sample to the test article for a set amount of time, then evaluating sperm motility afterwards. The motility of the test sperm is compared to a control sperm sample that wasnโ€™t exposed. If sperm motility decreases in the test sperm after exposure, compared to the control sperm, then the test article shows toxicity.
