How big a blastocyst is, graded as 1-6 in the standard Gardner system of grading. 1-2 is an early blast, 3-4 is an expanded blast, 5 is hatching, and 6 is hatched. In a 4AB, the “4” indicates the expansion. Read more in my post on Embryo grading and success rates
