๐งช Retrievals: 1
๐ฃ Transfers: 1
๐ Diagnosis: Unexplained infertility
๐ Outcome: Live birth
At 30 years old, afterย 2 unsuccessful years of trying, my husband and I were diagnosed with unexplained fertility (he was 38 at the time). Our firstย attempt at IVF gave us a total of 8 blastocysts, however all of them were either Day 6 or Day 7. After PGS testing we were left with 4 normals โ 3 of the 4 were Day 7.ย
This was back in 2016 and not much research was known or published about Day 7 embryos. I constantlyย scouredย the internet trying to find any information related to success rates; the most common response I found was that most clinics wouldnโt even let embryos go past Day 6. Beyond grateful for my doctor that gave our slow developers a chance.ย
Our first transfer was a Day 7, 6AA that resulted in our healthy, perfect little boy who is now 2 1/2 years old (heโs sitting right next to me right now and whining for a snack). Next month, we will attempt to give our son a sibling with another one of our leftoverย Day 7โs.ย
For anyone with embryos who might need a little extra time, do not give up and encourage your clinic to give them the extra time. Our doctor has had many IVF success stories with Day 7โs including one patient who is currently pregnant with twins โ both Day 7โs!ย
