A technique used to overcome fertilization and egg quality problems. In order for successful fertilization to occur, the egg must undergo “oocyte activation”. AOA can induce oocyte activation and help promote fertilization and improved egg/embryo quality. There are different ways to do this, but chemically is most common (calcium ionophore, calcimycin, ionomycin).
